Successful candidates will be responsible for operating commercial fleet vehicles safely while strictly adhering to corporate safety regulations and standard transport compliance policies

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates for these positions will be responsible for the following core tasks:

  • Safe Cargo Transport: Safely transport containers and cargo between DCG company areas, port facilities, and customer locations according to scheduled routes.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee mechanical soundness, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Documentation Management: Ensure all transit documents and cargo manifests are complete, accurate, and aligned with necessary regulations.
  • Cargo Operations: Supervise and assist in loading and unloading cargo with warehouse and port teams, ensuring items are well-secured against loss or damage.
  • Timely Communication: Deliver cargo on schedule and promptly communicate any delays, accidents, or route deviations to the supervisor.
  • Fuel & Mileage Monitoring: Track fuel usage and provide accurate mileage, consumption, and defect reports to management.
  • Proof of Delivery: Promptly submit Proof of Delivery (POD) notes alongside relevant paperwork immediately upon trip completion.
  • Safety & Ethics: Fully comply with traffic laws, corporate safety policies, and driving ethics at all times.
  • Maintenance Reporting: Report any technical faults or maintenance needs to the garage unit immediately.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Participate in scheduled vehicle service routines to ensure preventative measures are completed on time.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logbooks, delivery reports, and accurate recordings of working hours.
  • Auxiliary Equipment Operation: Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors, including operating machinery such as Forklifts, Wheel Loaders, Excavators, and Bobcats when required.

Applicant Qualifications

To be considered for these roles, applicants must meet the following baseline requirements:

  • Driving License: Must possess a valid Tanzanian driving license—Class E and C.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of verified experience driving large trucks or container-carrying vehicles in the logistics sector.
  • Port Procedures: A good understanding of port operations and customs clearance procedures.
  • Defensive Driving: Defensive driving or advanced road safety certifications will be highly advantageous.
  • Professional Attributes: High level of discipline, responsibility, and excellent time management skills.
  • Certification: A driving certificate from a recognized institutional training center.
  • Education: Secondary school education (Form Four) is highly recommended.
  • National Identification: Must have a National Identification Authority (NIDA) ID card or a valid NIDA number.
  • Flexibility: Willingness and readiness to work night shifts.
  • Machinery Skills: Ability to operate industrial equipment like Forklifts, Wheel Loaders, Excavators, and Bobcats is a major plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of heavy vehicle mechanics and maintenance will boost your employment chances.

Payment & Benefits
