TAZARA is a statutory institution jointly owned by the governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia on a 50/50 shareholding basis.
Currently, the authority is looking for a competent and energetic individual to fill the position of Public Relations Officer based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This is a full-time position under the TSG 11 salary grade, reporting directly to the Regional General Manager.
Key Job Purpose: The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of TAZARA’s corporate communication strategies. This includes managing media engagement, brand management, public relations functions, and enhancing the institution’s public image and visibility through effective communication channels.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate internal and external media relations activities, ensuring timely and professional dissemination of institutional information to the general public.
- Draft, review, and distribute official press releases, features, newsletters, speeches, and other communication materials aligned with corporate standards.
- Monitor public opinion and media coverage concerning TAZARA, compiling comprehensive reports and advising management on appropriate responses.
- Manage digital communication platforms, including social media channels, to maintain active and professional online engagement.
- Maintain strong working relationships with government institutions, media houses, stakeholders, and corporate partners.
- Assist in crisis communication management by providing timely and coordinated responses during operational disruptions or emergencies.
- Ensure absolute consistency in the application of TAZARA’s corporate identity and communication standards across all regional operations.

Qualifications and Requirements:
.Must possess a Form IV/VI Secondary School Certificate.
.A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, or a closely related field from a recognized academic institution.
.A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in media, public relations, or stakeholder engagement.
.Must be aged 45 years or below at the time of application.
.High proficiency in digital communication tools, social media management, and Microsoft Office applications.
.Excellent spoken and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
.Strong ability to work under pressure and effectively manage crisis communication.
.Possession of postgraduate qualifications or practical knowledge of graphic design and multimedia tools will serve as a distinct advantage.
